This is our memorial page for boxers which have been in our care that we have sadly lost.
Rest In Peace
KC
KC was a forever foster due to his cruciate ligament being damaged and the repair work was not done when it happened several years ago, meaning he would be uninsurable so the charity pays for his medical care for life.
KC was able to live the rest of his life happily loved with Tom, Jade, and Mylo. Mylo quickly became best friends with KC and the pair were inseparable. Thank you for giving this fantastic boy the wonderful end of life.
Bruce 30th April 2019
"Bruce came to us on the 30th of December 2014, 5 years after losing our white boxer. He amazingly fitted into our lives as if he had always been here, taking over his dad’s sofa immediately. He loved having kissed and cuddles and gave them right back to us. He loved going in the car for trips out, walking up Haldon, and the beach, especially when we did day trips to Cornwall and had fish and chips after. In November 2018, Bruce was diagnosed with a brain tumour, getting specialist treatment from Langford Vets in Bristol. Sadly, he couldn’t be healed, but was on ongoing medication to keep him going and give us as much time with him as possible. He was a brave boy, right to the end, still wanting walks and food, but the tumour got the better of him on the 30th of April 2019, aged 5 years and 11 months. Thank you for letting us rescue Bruce and give him a life that we have enjoyed together as a family." - Carrie
Bruno 3rd December 2018
"Bruno came to us on the 31st of July 2017, at first, he was reluctant to make friends with anyone. However, after three weeks and some hard work by myself, Jean, and my dog friends he began to enjoy life. His favourite walk was on the beach, he would spend all day in the water chasing skimmed stones if I let him. With his friends, Dylan, Mabel, Polly, Bramble, and Gracie he enjoyed his trips to the beach to play. At home, Bruno enjoyed playing football with myself and my great grandchildren, Ben and Jasmine, and having many cuddles on the couch with us. At our two visits to the Cornwall and South Devon Boxer Rescue yearly dog show, Bruno amassed four rosettes and we were very proud of our boy. Bruno was a big daft lad who loved his cuddles, the beach, and meeting other dogs/people. On December 3rd after a very short illness Bruno had a heart attack and passed over with myself and my wife at his side. We only had our wonderful boy in our lives for 17 months, but we loved every minute with him and would like to think he felt the same with us." - John Bell
Jasper 3rd October 2018
"Jasper came to us on the 31st August 2007, when I was 9 years old. I waited at the window for hours until a van pulled up and Jasper jumped out of the back. I looked at my parents and said, “he’s not going anywhere”. From the moment of seeing him, I knew he was my dog, and he instantly became my best friend. He was hard work, had very severe dominance issues with other dogs and at 40+kg he was a very strong boy. Despite this he always walked by my side like an angel but pulled like mad for anyone else! He looked after me as much as I looked after him and I’ll always miss him. Of course, he wasn’t just my dog but my parents too, and we all loved him like mad despite him being an absolute nightmare at times. He fought through three surgery’s, all at a senior age and suffered from severe arthritis after getting hit by a car in his youth. Sadly, he gave up his fight on the 3rd of October 2018, at the grand age of 13.5 years." -Chloe
Samba (Simba) 2nd August 2018
Samba had been one of our forever fosters for several years, this loving boy exceded expectations and showed how boxers don't like to grow old gracefully.
Under the loving care of Linda Kaye his final years have been filled with love and care, to which we thank you for and our hearts go out to you in this time of sadness.
Alfie May 2017
"Alfie came to us on 15th April 2009. John brought him. Alfie had been in a number of homes before coming to us. He was unsure who to listen to and it took him a while to know he wasn't going to go somewhere else. With a lot of cuddles, love and patients he turned into a lovely boy. Since he was with us he has been on the ferry to the isles of Scilly, Brighton pier, double decker bus and lots of holidays to Cornwall. Alfie passed over Rainbow Bridge on 18th May 2017.
We miss him so much" - Becky Jones
Neo January 2017
Wonderful, Neo ...The star of our John O’Brien Memorial Dog Show last year in 2016. During a routine health check-up that all dogs go through when they are surrendered to the charity, we were told that Neo had to have nearly every tooth removed. Sadly he hadn’t received the medical care that he needed in his previous home – which resulted in urgent action needing to be taken. Worse still, once the teeth were removed, a cancerous lump was also discovered. Neo is one of the worst cases that the charity has had to deal with, but he also demonstrates the types of cases (and costs) that the charity takes on. Sadly Neo went over the Rainbow Bridge at the end of January 2017
